New Patch 1.5 video
Official patch 1.5 information has just hit the interweb and we are all very excited by the small bit we were handed.
Good lord it’s been just over 5 months at the time of this post that Skyrim was released and so far we have seen 4 patches. 1.1 fixed a number of errors and quest fixes on the day of release. 1.2 saw a few errors being fixed while introducing a number of new bugs to the game, like dragons being able to fly backwards. 1.3 was released within a week of 1.2 fixing a few bugs while patching up the bugs created by 1.2.
Patch 1.4 could be considered a real patch since it introduced more than just bug fixes. The PC game got the Steam Workshop addition for mods, essentially making it very easy for anyone to install a particular mod by subscribing to the mod on its Steam homepage.
Patch 1.5 is, well going to be released at some point, though no one really knows when. While patch news is great we still haven’t heard anything officially new about the first Skyrim DLC. We were promised that the DLC would feel more like an expansion than a patch, and based on what we have seen so far that’s a big promise. Only time will tell honestly. While we’re waiting Bethesda released a teaser trailer for one of the new features, kill cameras.
Besides the video we have some other tantalizing details about what to expect.
- New cinematic kill cameras for projectile weapons and spells
- New kill moves and animations for melee weapons
- Shadows on grass available (PC)
- Smithing skill increases now factor in the created item’s value
- Improved visual transition when going underwater
- Improved distance LOD transition for snowy landscapes
